PREPARE

Plan your language evidence early

Choose an accepted test, understand the required scores and create a preparation schedule around your deadline.

Check acceptance before booking

Read the requirements for your exact course and intended intake. Confirm which test versions, delivery formats and results are accepted. Requirements for admission and for a visa can differ. Do not book solely because a friend used the same test for another institution or destination.

Look beyond the overall score

A course may specify minimum results in individual skills as well as an overall score. Note any validity period and the date by which the institution needs the result. Ask admissions if you are unsure how your previous education or existing test result is assessed.

Start with a diagnostic

Use the test provider's official practice materials to understand the task types and timing. Identify the skill that currently limits your performance. Build a weekly routine that combines focused practice, feedback and timed work rather than repeating full tests without reviewing errors.

Practise the underlying study skills

Academic language preparation is useful beyond the test. Summarise a lecture, compare two written arguments, explain a chart and practise discussing an idea clearly. Keep an error log for vocabulary, grammar or organisation patterns you repeatedly miss. Consistent targeted work is more useful than memorised answers.

Leave room in the timeline

Account for test availability, result release and any retake you might need. Check identification rules and test-day arrangements directly with the provider. Once results are available, follow the institution's instructions for official delivery rather than assuming a screenshot is sufficient.
